Job Description:

Founded in 1954, Leominster Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative financial institution. For sixty years, we have provided a full range of deposit, lending, and other financial services to North Central Massachusetts residents. We are seeking an Assistant Controller to perform a variety of accounting, financial analysis and administrative functions in conformance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.  The Assistant Controller is a member of our Finance Team and reports directly to the AVP, Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Fully understands and calculates cash position with the Federal Reserve on a daily basis.  Sets/purchases and reports Fed Funds/Borrowing position within designated guidelines.
  • Performs all required fixed asset work monthly.
  • Prepares regulatory reports on a scheduled and as needed basis. (i.e. Quarterly Call Report, Federal Reserve 2900 Report)
  • Prepares general ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Makes recommendations to streamline processes within the overall Accounting functions.
  • Provides backup to the AVP Controller as needed. (i.e. monthly financial and general ledger entries and month-end closing requirements)
  • Provides backup to the AVP Treasury as needed. (i.e. investment reporting)

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent through specialized coursework and training.
  • Three to five years of experience in accounting, preferably within a financial institution.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Well developed interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Report writing software, as well as  PowerPoint.
